International perspective of Social Media

Standard

Social media around Manchester has some parts of it going on…

At restaurants you can see a lot of social media icons being used such as Follow us on Twitter or Like a Facebook page. The two social platforms are more popular than any other social platforms, which means this is the only way internationals can contacts it by. I have only seen few QR codes used within a University advertisement and magazines (couldn’t get a hang of any pictures but I do actually remember seeing them in these certain places! sorry)

By sharing information like this through social websites also explains what kind of culture around the Manchester area has from what others see about the Manchester area from other cities.

I have seen a lot of people use Check-in and also other sorts of Social platforms like ‘Foursquare’ (which I personally use my self) which is more like a feedback of the places you been to or you have checked in at so other users can see how much it is rated out of whatever and what the place is all about. This app on phones can help a person learn about the place, town, country or whatever.

This would improve and would also increase a number of buyers and traffic from all over the world.

Social Media in the Photography industry

Standard

Social Media has many advantages in the photography industry around Manchester.

There are many people out in the manchester region who love photography. These photographers show their work through a social platform such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Flickr, name it, they all show their work through these websites. The purpose for this is to connect with potential clients who would love to get professional photos taken for their special day such as, Weddings, Birthdays, or any other private to business events.

I have seen many clubs that also use Facebook to share photos with their clients from the previous nights partying as it is easier to share than getting everyone contact and sending them privately; this option would be the easiest route of all to collect pictures that are at the interest of clients.

For those who are making there way up to becoming a proffesional or just for interest uses, there are mobile apps used for mobile users, which can be taken from anywhere edited and uploaded to a social platform, to show your peice of art work.

Manchester is a creative, energetic and cosmopolitan city noted for its music scene, media links and industrial past.Manchester has many social media scenes, which has the famous Media City UK, that includes channels of Cbeebies and BBC channels as well as ITV. This place is worth visiting. Also the very famous ‘East is East’ film is made in Salford, Manchester, which has captured every ones heart as it is a very funny.

Standard

There are many locations around Manchester that has many social events happening which is based in anything and that is everywhere.

Photographers, car show room, fashion show, wedding exhibitions, and many other social events, they all involve some sort of media to help people get together and attend these shows. The only way it goes out to everyone is by of course sending them by social media, which can include, Facebook, Twitter to advertise their organisations!

As this is part of a project, I will be attended few events to get some work started with social media scenarios within the Manchester area. Manchester is really known for its social events, as it always has connections with all types of people and culture from all over the world, as it is multicultural so it would be exciting to see many of other events which I have not really seen!

I’m quite looking forward to this so…… Yay :)

SOPA and PIPA – Copyrights Online

Standard

Come on,admit it, how many times do we actually do this everyday? It has become so normal that we even forget that is it even illegal or is it a copyright?… The truth is, if one artist comes up with an idea of an image, and another person reuses that image in a different manner, it can not be considered as an illegal or copyright as this helps other people with bringing out better ideas, and without this, we wouldn’t be able to have access to internet used and today we have many social networks alike, such as Facebook, Hi5, Twitter… These websites may have one purpose, but each manages and functions in few different ways, well it is pretty obvious that one of these social network producers had help from other social network producers!!!…..This is the part where this build an understanding of how things can be made and done.

Let’s say if we all had an assignment to do at uni, and we were told to use references, and we were not allowed to copy it, how would universities or schools manage? If there was no WIKIPEDIA or GOOGLE, we would not have enough knowledge to even carry on, we would be left amazed thinking, how on earth does this damn thing work!.

My heart says as long as its done with good intention and you not EXACTLY copying anyone and your using it to broaden you mind, it should not be considered a bad thing, every little thought has been put into something but gives other a bigger imagination and create into something bigger.

Basic Elements Copy; Transform; Combine … other wise there would not be any mobile rivals, Blackberry vs Apple, O2 vs GiffGaff and etc.

Here is a Video of My mash-up which I have created with my lovely hands :p (joking I am not that vein lol)…..

Clips I used for my mashup were taken from:

( The social Media snowball effect (Video Series))

(SOPA and PIPA new york tech meet up protest)

 (Bollywood copied Swedish Movie)

Pictures were googled up :-)

Music Background was from the song called, Fort Minor – Remember my name but was an instrumental version

Please do comment and tell me what you think!

Me and My Media!

Standard

Heya viewers…… glad to see me back?

Well, I will be talking about about media privacy in this blog.

How many of us worry about the privacy over social networking platforms? It is quite disturbing the fact we have to reveal some information according to each social networking website policy. You sometimes do not realise that what information is being given out.

Below, I have posted a video the facts about these social website and problems which affects, and what can be done to be safe in the Social media world.

We all access social media everyday to update our statuses, write on wall, writing a blog, adding pictures or posting YouTube links through Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, name it all, I am sure you must know what I mean. It has affected our lives so much that, its come to an extent where we download applications on our phones, such as Apple, Blackberry, Android, HTC, Nokia to keep up to date and we do not miss out any event or other information. These applications are sometimes are even used by connecting application to our numbers, once they opt for it, it is connected to the social websites also, and this can get serious issues as there are a number of hackers around, which we should be aware of.

As I have social accounts to, I make sure I do not give out too much information, just for my own safety.

This all is all part of using Technology, which in some cases can be a bad thing, especially by exploiting data.

I have had few problems with Facebook security in the past as it was only set to one, and I must admit the new Facebook security is so much more better as I can limit the audience of my status to one sort of audience and the wall post from friends to another set of audience. This way you are much more better off than showing everything to either public or to ‘Friends’ only.

So to conclude, there more options available on how to manage your privacy. And readers, always read the terms and conditions before accepting anything, look at what the policy has got to say before getting yourselves into trouble. As most of the social websites do send data to third parties, yes, even sometimes without notifying you. I don’t my lovely readers to be upset, so I am just looking out for you all:)

Has this information been any useful to you? Also please comment if you have any thoughts on how to make social websites a safer place to be, and what changes can be made to privacy :D

If you would like to know more similar topics relating to social media, I recommend you reading Samir Sanghani blog at

Digital Identity/Online Presence

Standard

Well Hello there, readers! Welcome ….(Feb 8th 2012)

Now that I have introduced my self and you know who I am, I will be writing my very first blog, and many more blogs to come, as I will be updating post ;)

In this blog, I will be talking about the amount of personal identity which everyone reveals over the internet. It is a tough situation to think about as they are advantages and disadvantages.

The interesting part is that once you are up on web, employers, family, colleagues, and other form of relationships would want to know you once a bond is formed. Here they will start get to know you and will also get an idea of how you are, what your personality is like, and will have their own opinions about you. Like I had mentioned before it can be seen in a good way or a bad way.

There are a lot of social website such as Facebook, Twitter, Hi5, Tumblr, WordPress, chat rooms, and the list goes on. From the people who would like to add you what kind of reaction do you want from the readers going through your profile?
There are many people who will think a lot about you. Example for this is if an employer had received a CV from you, and had found you through Google or though another search engine and seen a real embarrassing picture of you acting stupid they would most likely think twice about making you their employee. If they had seen a good smart and mature side of you, they probably consider and probably accept you as their employee. This is the part how people would view you as, so readers, lets hope your on the good side, we don’t want to lose on a good employment now do we ;)

There are other website that displays household information through Census or electoral roll, one popular website being the 192.com. The data includes, address and family members.

Below are few screen shots of my name as I typed my name on Google. The top one being my LinkedIn Account. My Twitter account and Facebook Account does not show up.

It may be quite scary seeing your name come up on Google and thinking your very famous, but at the same time we do not want to get in trouble by fake accounts at the same times, as this can cause a lot of problems for you. So be very careful.

Here is another update as I type my name in on Google ( Feb 10th 2012 @ 22:29pm)

Top List

Here you can see that as I type my name in on Google straight away my name will come up first to my actual websites.

Well that’s all for today. Toodles :D
